Type Locality: Vembayam (near Trivendrum, Kerala)
Rare, known to be fairly distributed in Western Ghats of Kerala and rarely found in Ambadi-Vannaparai in Tamil Nadu (Srinivasulu et al., 2013).

This species is listed as Endangered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).


The species is reported from forested tracts and rubber plantations (Srinivasulu et al., 2013). Expansion of agriculture and plantation over the forest areas are major threats to the species and its habitat (Srinivasulu et al., 2013).
