There are several species of Lycodon in India. While some of them are easy to identify based on colouration, others require a close examination of scalation, so they cannot be identified to species level from images alone. This page displays all the images for which species-level identification has not been possible, or not done so far. Many variations of the Vine Snake were historically included under Ahaetulla nasuta, which was listed as an Indian species. However, according to recent taxonomic work (Mallick et al. 2020), nasuta is endemic to Sri Lanka. Mallick et al. (2020) described several new species from India. The images included on this page have not yet been identified to the species as defined by Mallick et al. (2020). They will be moved under the correct species pages when experts have finished re-identifying them.
