The turtle species can be seen in fresh water systems, such as rivers, reservoirs and ponds in Peninsular India (Asian Turtle Trade Working Group, 2000). Siltation and drying up of rivers are major reasons, that’s why the species has been disappeared from its previously known ranges (Asian Turtle Trade Working Group, 2000).
