Bungarus andamanensis - Andaman Krait



Type Locality: Port Blair
Rare, restricted to the Andaman Islands only (Auliya, 2010).
Key habitat of the species is semi-evergreen or evergreen tropical forests. Further research into habitat and population monitoring of this species is needed to measure the decline rate (Auliya, 2010).

This species is listed as Vulnerable in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).

 
According to the IUCN Red List assessment, the species is mainly threatened by growth in tourism and increase in the immigrants' population (Auliya, 2010). In 1998, an assessment survey by BCPP CAMP had been done there, further research is required (Auliya, 2010).
