This species has been described by Hardwicke and Gray (1827) based on specimens collected from Dum Dum West Bengal, India. Current distribution ranges Western Maharashtra (Smith, 1935). Recently, it is reported from Araku, Vishakhapatnam district, Andhra Pradesh, India (Seetharamaraju et al, 2011). Whereas, Chikane (2011) comments on its distribution on Kaas plateau in Satara district, Maharashtra.
