Calliophis nigrescens

The sighting was first made by P.R Manjunath, RFO,Thirhahalli on 09.10.2017 who confused in identifying the snake. Other colleagues Shivaraj Mathad,RFO(Probationer) , Pascal,(DyRFO) Halesh (Dy.RFO) ,Malatesh (Forest Guard) , Santosh (Peon). This is first time ever sighting in Thirthahalli range. Rescued snake is released into the forest.
The snake specimen identity is confirmed by Manjunath Nayak, Biodiversity Researcher and C.R.Naik,KFD
The same snake was found dead by road kill last year in Kumbarvada beat near Joida and Last year C.R Naik has noticed couple of time in Dandeli range too. These two incidents were first record of sighting.

All creatures in the Biodiversity play a vital role in ecological equilibrium.
