Uropeltis phipsonii - Phipson's Shieldtail


Type Locality: Bombay Ghats (Between Mumbai and Pune, Maharashtra)
Rare, known to be distributed in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka (Srinivasulu et al., 2013)
The species is known to occur in hilly forest tracts and semi evergreen forests in Western Ghats (Srinivasulu et al., 2013). Nothing is known about population status of the species (Srinivasulu et al., 2013).

This species is listed as Vulnerable in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).
 

The habitat of the species is under pressure due to increasing tourism, deforestation and land conversion into agriculture and urban development (Srinivasulu et al., 2013).
