Type Locality: Malacca (West Malaysia)
Rare, known to be found in coasts of peninsular India, mainly Kerala and Tamil Nadu (Reptile Database).

The turtle species can be found in coastal drainages (Asian Turtle Trade Working Group, 2000). Direct exploitation and habitat loss of the species are major threats, causing negative impacts to the species (Asian Turtle Trade Working Group, 2000).
