Type Locality: South Tirunelveli hills (Tamil Nadu)
Rare, known to be distributed in Western Ghats in Tamil Nadu and Kerala (Srinivasulu and Srinivasulu, 2013).

This species is listed as Near Threatened in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).


This day gecko is found in pristine high-altitude forests in Western Ghats (Srinivasulu and Srinivasulu, 2013). Tourism related developmental Infrastructure in its habitat is major threat to the species (Srinivasulu and Srinivasulu, 2013). Not much information is known yet about the species’ population.
