Use "view more images" to show the next page of images directly under the present images, but only the first page of images is kept in the browser history. If you use page numbers the pages are kept in the brower history.
Right click in most browers gives the option to open a link in a new tab/window. This can be useful if you want to open a species page without leaving this page.
