Status, Habitat and Habits:

Type Locality: Barkuda island (Chilika lake, Odisha)

Conservation Status:

This species is listed as Critically Endangered in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).

The skink species is found in scrub forest and semi-evergreen forest patches, it digs burrows in loose earth around tree roots (Bauer et al., 2014). Since the forests of Odisha are patchily distributed due to forest destruction and forest fires; it evidences that the species might be affected with such level of habitat degradation (Bauer et al., 2014).
