This species was previously listed under Hemidactylus, as Hemidactylus anamallensis.

Type Locality: Annamalai hills (Tamil Nadu)
Common, known to be endemic to Western Ghats (Agasthyamalai hills, Kottaomalai hills, Annamalai hills, Kalakkad-Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve, Munna, Palani Hills) (Srinivasulu and Srinivasulu, 2013).

Conservation Status:


This species is listed as Near Threatened in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).


The gecko is known to be occupied in evergreen forests in the hills of Western Ghats in Tamil Nadu and Kerala (Srinivasulu and Srinivasulu, 2013). Population status of the species is not known yet. Habitat fragmentation, land conversion into commercial plantations, and use of pesticides are negatively impacting the species (Srinivasulu and Srinivasulu, 2013).
